Arrest Made in a Homicide: 200 Block of M Street, Southwest

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in a homicide that occurred on Friday, August 30, 2019, in the 200 block of M Street, Southwest.

At approximately 8:34 am, members of the First District and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the listed location for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, members located a juvenile male inside of a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services determined the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.  

The decedent has been identified as 16 year-old Domonique Franklin, of Southeast, DC.

On Wednesday, January 8, 2020, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 17 year-old Jwhan Simpson, of Gaithersburg, MD, was arrested and charged as an adult with First Degree Murder while Armed.
