Arrest Made in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife): 1700 Block of Columbia Road, Northwest

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) offense that occurred on Monday, February 24, 2020, in the 1700 block of Columbia Road, Northwest.

At approximately 10:29 am, the suspect and victim were engaged in a verbal altercation at the listed location. The suspect brandished a knife and threatened to stab the victim. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers.

On Monday, February 24, 2020, 59 year-old John Cornwell, of Oxon Hill, MD, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife).
