Arrests Made in Robbery Offenses

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division announced arrests in recent robbery cases in Washington, DC.

First District:

• On Tuesday, October 13, 2020, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 26 year-old Shannon Tayvon McCurtheon, of Suitland, MD, was arrested for an Armed Carjacking (Knife) offense that occurred on Friday, October 9, 2020, in the 1000 block of 8^th Street, Southeast. CCN: 20-144-255
  • At approximately 12:40 pm, the suspect and victim were in a vehicle at the listed location.  The suspect brandished a knife and demanded the victim exit the vehicle.  The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

• On Wednesday, October 14, 2020, 35 year-old Corey Vincent Beander, of no fixed address was arrested for an Attempt to Commit Robbery while Armed (Box Cutter) offense that occurred on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, in the 400 block of K Street, Northwest. CCN: 20-147-280
  • At approximately 7:45 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect brandished a box cutter and attempted to take the victim’s bicycle.  The suspect was unsuccessful and fled the scene.  The victim flagged down a nearby officer and the responding officer apprehended the suspect.

• On Wednesday, October 14, 2020, a 17 year-old juvenile male and a 15 year-old juvenile male, both of Northeast, DC were arrested for an Armed Carjacking (Gun) offense that occurred on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, in the 1300 block of E Street, Southeast. CCN: 20-147-341
  • At approximately 9:22 pm, four suspects approached the victim at the listed location. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victim exit her vehicle and give him her keys and other property.  The suspects fled with the victim’s vehicle keys after the victim yelled for help.  Responding officers apprehended two of the suspects.  This case remains under investigation.

Third District:

• On Wednesday, October 14, 2020, a 15 year-old juvenile male, of Northeast, DC, was arrested for a Robbery (Snatch) offense that occurred on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, in the 3100 block of Mount Pleasant Street, Northwest. CCN: 20-147-150
  • At approximately 3:48 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect snatched the victim’s property then fled the scene.

• On Friday, October 16, 2020, 26 year-old Kenneth Morris Barnes, of Northwest, DC, was arrested for a Robbery (Snatch) offense that occurred on Friday, October 16, 2020, in the 1400 block of Park Road, Northwest.  CCN: 20-148-209
  • At approximately 4:11 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location.  The suspect snatched the victim’s property and fled the scene.  The suspect was apprehended by an off duty MPD officer.

Fourth District:

• On Wednesday, October 14, 2020, pursuant to a DC Superior Court custody order, a 16 year-old juvenile male, of Northwest, DC, was arrested for a Robbery (Force and Violence) offense and two Carjacking offenses that occurred in the Fourth District.
  • On Thursday, June 25, 2020, at approximately 8:00 pm, two suspects approached the victim in the 5400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, Northwest. The suspects assaulted the victim and during the assault, one of the suspects took the victim’s vehicle keys.  One of the suspects fled on foot and the other suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle.  This case remains under investigation.  Robbery (Force and Violence) CCN: 20-093-084

• • On Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at approximately 6:05 am, a group of suspects approached the victim in the 4500 block of Fort Totten Drive, Northeast.  The suspects demanded the victim’s vehicle keys.  The victim refused and the suspects assaulted the victim.  The suspects then fled the location without obtaining any property.  This case remains under investigation  Unarmed Carjacking CCN: 20-094-994

• • On Saturday, July 4, 2020, at approximately 6:20 am, four suspects approached the victim in the 4400 block of Clermont Drive, Northeast.  One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victim exit his vehicle.  Another suspect assaulted the victim and removed him from his vehicle.  Three of the suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle and the fourth suspect fled in another vehicle.  This case remains under investigation.  Armed Carjacking (Gun) CCN: 20-096-730

Sixth District

• On Friday, October 9, 2020, 23 year-old Brandon Mark, of Northeast, DC, was arrested for an Armed Robbery (Gun) offense that occurred on Friday, October 9, 2020, in the 1900 block of T Place, Southeast. CCN: 20-144-547
  • At approximately 4:28 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.
