Arrests Made in Robbery Offenses

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division announced several arrests in recent robbery cases in Washington, DC.

First District:

• On Tuesday, August 25, 2020, two 17 year old juvenile males, both of Southeast, DC were arrested for an Unarmed Carjacking and Robbery offense that occurred on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, in the Unit block of L Street, Southeast. CCN 20-121-188
  • At approximately 11:49 pm, two suspects approached the victims, who were in a vehicle, at the listed location. One of the suspects opened the vehicle’s door and attempted to take the keys to the vehicle. The second suspect took the other victim’s property and both suspects then fled the scene. The suspects were apprehended by responding officers.

• On Tuesday, August 25, 2020, 28 year-old Joshua Smith of Northwest, DC, was arrested for a Robbery (Snatch) offense that occurred on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, in the Unit block of Massachusetts Avenue, Northeast. CCN 20-121-199
  • At approximately 12:00 am, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect snatched the victim’s property and then fled the scene. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers.

• On Monday, August 24, 2020, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 19 year-old Christian Mitchell of Northeast, DC, was arrested for an Armed Robbery (Gun) offense that occurred on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, in the 100 block of Pierce Street, Northwest. CCN 20-107-818
  • At approximately 1:25 pm, the victim and suspect arranged a meeting through the “Offer Up” app to sell a vehicle. When the victim arrived, two suspects approached the victim. After the victim paid the suspects for the vehicle, one of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victim exit the vehicle. The victim complied and the suspects fled the scene in the vehicle. This case remains under investigation.

Fourth District:

• On Sunday, August 23, 2020, 20 year-old Ever Umanzor of Northwest, DC, was arrested for a Robbery (Force and Violence) offense that occurred on Sunday, August 23, 2020, in the 3400 block of Holmead Place, Northwest. CCN 20-120659
  • At approximately 9:40 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect assaulted the victim and took her property. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers.

• On Sunday, August 23, 2020, 19 year-old Kotchoni Allola of Hyattsville, MD, was arrested for an Assault with Intent to Commit Robbery offense that occurred on Sunday, August 23, 2020, in the 5900 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. CCN 20-120674
  • At approximately 10:00 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect assaulted the victim and then attempted to take property from the victim. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers.
