Celebrating Frederick Douglass During Black History Month

Would it be best to reclaim the entire month of February, and celebrate Black History Month in March?  Maybe that is asking too much.  Well, considering we are approaching the twenty-eight-day mark, it is wishful thinking.  However, before the end is near let’s honor Frederick Douglass.

Known as “The Lion of Anacostia” Frederick Douglass was born 200 years ago in 1818.  Married twice with 21 grandchildren it was a need to purchase the 10 acres of land and 5 bedroom house with an attic.

While traveling, Douglass’s travel-trunk signified his wealth.  Perhaps he would travel to see his good friend Susan B. Anthony. Along the way, Frederick gain an interest for Women’s Rights – and them reaching their full potential.
