Coronavirus Data for July 7, 2020

(Washington, DC) – The District’s reported data for Tuesday, July 7, 2020 includes 73 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 10,642.

The District reported three additional COVID-19 related deaths.

• 59-year-old female
• 63-year-old male
• 66-year-old female

Tragically, 564 District residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19.

DC Health has confirmed that a new peak was detected in the data, resetting the District’s count in community spread to three days of sustained decrease. That data is represented in the chart below.

The District has the ability to contact trace 99.3% of new cases within on day of report. That data is represented in the chart below.

The District has the ability to contact trace 96.7% of close contacts of positive cases within two days. That data is represented in the chart below.

The District’s data shows a sustained transmission rate of .89. That data is represented in the chart below.

The District currently has 81 intensive care unit (ICU) beds available in hospitals out of 345 total ICU beds.

Guidance has been published for healthcare providers, employers and the public to provide information on what to do if you have been diagnosed with or are a contact of someone who has COVID-19.

Residents should take the following actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick
• Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used if soap and water are not available
• Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
