More Than Slots, Boxing at MGM National Harbor

It goes down!, not in your DM’s, but at the MGM National Harbor on March 11th for the first-ever boxing match at the casino and resort. That means there’s more than slots at the MGM National Harbor!

Get ready!

The cards are stacked for the March 11th boxing match, and Featherweight World Champion Gary Russell Jr is ready to win at home.  Born in DC, raised in Maryland, Russell, Jr. is one of three outstanding band of boxing brothers!  No pun intended! Russell Sr, says “our family structure is unity,” and outside the ring his sons represent family and culture as gentlemen.  He also stated at the press conference “pressure fighters, they say pressure bust pipes and we’re ready for pressure.”  Russell Jr has trained and conditioned for 12 rounds against opponent Oscar Escando from Ibague, Columbia.

All three brothers, Gary, Antonio, and Gary Antuanne Russell will have a chance to display their talents next month.

Just in case you’re not up close and personal watching the fight from the fabulous theater seating, Showtime will broadcast the showdown.  The ticket prices are very reasonable and within budget starting at $50 not exceeding $200 which leaves plenty room and bucks for refreshments and refreshing beverages.

In Mode

The DC Voice had a chance to chat with Featherweight World Champion Garry Russell Jr.

The DC Voice: What advice could you give to the youth pursuing a career in boxing?

Russell Jr: Don’t cut corners, always push yourself to the limit.  The biggest fight is them fighting themselves.

The DC Voice: What music do you listen to when getting in mode for the ring?

Russell Jr: All I listen to is Wayne, a little Scarface and 504Fiend.

Be sure to get your ticket to witness the first ever boxing match at MGM National Harbor and Resort.
