Super Bowl Recap

Tampa Bay finished off their brilliant season with a dominating 31-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Tampa’s defense kept the high-powered Chiefs’ offense quiet all game long. Brady, who won his mind-blowing 7th Super Bowl, chipped in with a couple of TDs to secure a comfortable win. Brady was rewarded with the game’s MVP award for his efforts. It’s the second Super Bowl victory in Tampa Bay’s history. Tampa’s victory also means the streak without a repeat Super Bowl champion now climbs to 17 years.

An old NFL saying is that the game is won and lost in the trenches. This Super Bowl was no different as the two QBs had very different experiences. Brady was only pressured 4 times which is the lowest he’s ever had in a Super Bowl. Mahomes on the other hand was pressured 29 times which is an NFL record in the Super Bowl. The stark contrast is perhaps the biggest reason for such a one-sided Super Bowl.

The main reason that the Chiefs couldn’t protect Mahomes is due to most of their starting offensive line being injured. Make no mistake though this Tampa defense was fantastic all game long. They harassed Mahomes all game long and kept his weapons quiet. Kelce’s stat line looks impressive until you realize most of those yards came in garbage time. Hill was largely anonymous throughout the game until he too was able to pad his stats during garbage time. Brady may have won the MVP, but the Buccaneers’ defense is the reason why they won this game.

Speaking of Brady, he now without any doubt has had the most successful NFL career in history. Seven Super Bowls is a feat that we likely won’t see matched anytime soon. He will look to defend his title and capture an eighth title next season. As for Mahomes and the Chiefs, this loss will sting, but they will be hoping to make their third straight Super Bowl next year. 31 teams will go into this offseason looking to better themselves as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are now on top of the NFL world.
