Traffic Fatality: 2500 Block of Naylor Road, Southeast

Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic crash that occurred on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, in the 2500 block of Naylor Road, Southeast.

Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 1:55 pm, the operator of a 2019 Kymco gas powered scooter was traveling southbound in the 1700 block of 25^th Street, Southeast.  The operator of the scooter went around several vehicles that were stopped at a stop sign and entered the intersection at Naylor Road.  A 2001 Ford Expedition was traveling northbound in the 2500 block of Naylor Road and struck the scooter.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The decedent has not been identified.
